Yahoo now provides email password through SMS in USA
If there is one thing that irritates me most, it’s the headache of logging in to email accounts, especially if you have multiple accounts on same service provider. Logout, login, logout, login. It’s a headache (not talking about smartphones and email applications for desktops). Thanks to the sheer number of accounts, I frequently forget my email password and to reset the password, I have to again login to another account. To my relief, Yahoo is working on ‘text to mobile’ password where the OTP will be texted to the mobile phone. Follow the process mentioned below if you want to start using this feature. As of now, this feature is only available for users in USA.
We’ve made the steps easy to follow – check them out below.
1) Sign in to your Yahoo.com account.
2) Click on your name at the top right corner to go to your account information page.
3) Select “Security” in the left bar.
4) Click on the slider for “On-demand passwords” to opt-in.
5) Enter your phone number and Yahoo will send you a verification code.
6) Enter the code and voila!
Yahoo is also working on e2e encryptions and has published the source code of their e2e encryption solution to get feedback from security industry. The target is to make this available to all users by end of the year 2015. You can download the source code from GitHub.
Also, you can report any potential vulnerabilities that you find via Yahoo’s Bug Bounty program.
