Xiaomi to unveil MIUI 7 on August 13th, probably based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
Xiaomi is all set to unveil the next version of its skin called MIUI on the 13th of August, the company announced on its forums today. The Chinese giant has scheduled an event in Beijing for the launch of MIUI 7.
Currently, MIUI is at version 6, with many devices still using the KitKat based MIUI 6, while others have been rebased to Lollipop MIUI 6. Xiaomi hopes to sort this mess out with the unveiling of MIUI 7, which will be based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is likely to be pushed out to all phones running MIUI 6.
The company sent out teaser and several posters hinting at the next version of MIUI. While we don’t know for sure if Xiaomi will push out the MIUI 7 update on August 13 to existing devices, it is understood that the Mi 5, Xiaomi’s 2015-early 2016 flagship will be the first device to run MIUI 7 out of the box. Rumours have also pointed out Xiaomi using Snapdragon 820 processor in the Mi 5, so things are going to be exciting in the coming months for Xiaomi fans and users.
