Xiaomi Mi Note and Mi Note Pro launched

Xiaomi has launched two new phablets today, after days of teasing. The two new devices, the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, come with the latest specs and the pricing seems really good for what they’re offering.

The Xiaomi Mi Note comes with a 5.7 inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and the latest version of MIUI. The sides of the phone are made from metal, but the front and the back are covered by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. The front glass is a bit curved, a 2.5D glass slightly curved at the edges with the back having more pronounced edges.

Considering the specs, Xiaomi is offering a great device on paper. MIUI 6 is very good, and now the hardware being offered at the price is very good, as well. Not to forget the design, which the company has been generally good at.

Coming to the Mi Note Pro, it’s just like the Mi Note, but improved in a couple of key areas – the display and the processor get huge upgrades. These are the best specs in the industry at the moment, so that’s saying something.

The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro comes with Android 5.0.1 Lollipop out of the box, which is a good thing to see. It’s weird that the Mi Note doesn’t come with Lollipop, seeing the two devices are same for the most part, save for the display and the processor.

Both the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro will be available for pre-booking in China beginning January 20th. The shipping begins on January 27th. We don’t have details about availability in other markets so far. As far as India is concerned, Xiaomi had invited a few journalists to Beijing for the launch, so if that’s any sign, we should be looking at an India launch not too far into the future.
