WiFire App – Connects to Public hotspot around you
Mobstac, a Bangalore based start-up has come up with an app called WiFire. WiFire helps you connect with free wifi hotspots around you, without having to fill up forms or enter OTP. It will search for the hotspot near you and will fill up all necessary details for you. When I started using the app, I realized that there are so many good Samaritans in Bangalore who offer free WiFi. All I had to do was to connect to them and start surfing. The last time I checked, there was 356 free public networks in the city. It is a small number, but it is growing.
In the app, you can tag your hotspots as home, office or public. It will also tell you the distance to the nearest public network. You can define limitations for certain apps in your mobile. If the app is within the data wall, it will never use network data. It will only use WiFi hotspots. I found this feature very useful and immediately put YouTube and Whatsapp behind the data wall.
This is a great app for any one to save on your network bandwidth. With the number of public hotspots increasing in the city, this app provides good utility value. If you discover new hotspots and inform the app, you earn rewards points which can be redeemed for some gifts.
