Whatsapp desktop app released for Windows and OS X
Finally, Whatsapp has an application for desktop operating systems that runs natively (instead of running on a web browser). If you are using Windows 8 or higher version OS or Mac OS X 10.9+, you can download Whatsapp for desktop. No need to connect through the browser, this one is pure desktop application.
You can download the application from https://www.whatsapp.com/download. Once Whatsapp desktop app is installed, you have to open the application on phone and on desktop, go to ‘whatsapp web’ on phone and let the phone scan the QR code that is displayed by the desktop application. This app works even if the application on phone is closed. The application also supports native desktop shortcuts, notifications.
One major advantage that Telegram had till now was the powerful native desktop application and with this gap closed, we expect Whatsapp to grow in numbers. We tried using Whatsapp desktop app on OS X El Capitan and it is smooth and there are not bugs. So, go ahead and install it.
