WhatsApp Adds Video Calling in Beta Version

WhatsApp Video CallAround one year after adding voice calls to WhatsApp, the company is now working on adding support for video calls. Support for video calling has been anticipated from quite some time now.

The feature is seen in the 2.16.81 version of the app. It is the beta version of the app. The beta version is available on Google play and can be downloaded after becoming a beta tester. You can download the beta version from here.

Video calling is becoming more and more popular and the feature is currently available on Snapchat, Messenger, Hangouts, Viber and Skype with Skype being the leader.

WhatsApp will benefit hugely after adding video calling as it already has a huge user base and other messaging apps do not enjoy such a huge user base.

Currently, when we try to use the feature, we get a message saying “Couldn’t place call. Video calling is unavailable at this time.” The feature hasn’t been enabled and looks like it will take some time before the feature is available even in the beta version.
