What to expect from Google I/O 2015

Google IO 2015

Google I/O 2015 is less than a day away now. Android and Google fans may have been waiting for this event to start off in earnest and Google has lots of things planned for this year’s developer conference to make things exciting once again. The event starts at 0930 hours PDT on May 28th, which would be 2200 hours IST (we are 1230 hours ahead of PDT).

Android M

Android M Marshmallow

Google is going to make a new update of Android official for developers, allowing them time to work on their apps and services and bring them all up to steam before the Android users get it on their phones. This ensures a really quick and smooth transition from one update to another. This also gives Google enough feedback for a proper testing of its update.

In Android M, Google is rumoured to be improving the RAM and battery management. Google had made big promises in Lollipop with regards to power management, but this time the Project Volta will be more substance and less talk. Security enhancements are also on the anvil, with fingerprint detection being added to stock Android.

New Nexus phones

Huawei Angler new Nexus phone

Google is not going to give up on the Nexus range of smartphones contrary to what the rumourmongers had to say back during late last year. The search giant is all set to unveil two, non one but two Nexus phones made in collaboration with Huawei for the flagship version and LG for the more affordable one.

New Chromecast

Chromecast

Chromecast has been sold to a million plus users. This small stick wonder allows you to stream content from your phone to a big screen near you by just plugging it in the big screen. A hit already, Google is apparently going to update it with beefed up specs to allow users to stream games as well.

Brillo

Google Brillo IoT

Google’s latest attempt at understanding and figuring out the Internet of Things concept, Brillo is being touted as a new, Android-based lightweight operating system to work with various objects. The acquisition of Nest makes a lot of sense when read along with this rumour.

We’ll bring you all the details as soon as the event begins. You can sign up for and livestream the Google I/O 2015 event here.
