VLC for Android is out of beta and available for free in the Play Store

VLC is probably one of the most favourite media client used by geeks, and today, after months and months of beta testing, the Android app has been released to the public.

VLC for Android_1

VLC for Android is free and open source, like its versions for other platforms. The app lacks a certain UI polish, though, also reminiscent of its versions for other platforms. However, media playback is very smooth. The app has support for subtitles and multi-track audio, among other features like aspect ratio adjustments and gestures.

The app currently only supports ARMv7 and x86 devices. Support for ARMv6 (older devices) is coming soon.
