Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is world’s first phone with 6GB RAM
About a decade ago, there were smartphones with 32MB of RAM and 6GB of RAM on a desktop was considered ‘elite’. Today, 4GB of RAM on a smartphone is a usual thing and Vivo has taken a step further, announcing world’s first smartphone with 6GB of RAM. The Vivoe Xplay 5 Elite comes with a 5.43″ QuadHD dual-curved (like the one on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge) AMOLED display and is powered by by Snapdragon 820 chipset. There is also 128GB of onboard storage. In short, this is the phone that has the best hardware among smartphones. The best part is that the phone will be available from 8th of March in China for $655.
Xplay 5 Elite comes with a rear mounted fingerprint reader, has dual SIM card slots and the battery is rated at 3600mAh. Coming to optics, there is a 16mp rear camera with Sony IMX298 camera and there is a front facing 8mp camera. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and the body is made of metal making the phone very strong. The only problem with the phone is that it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop (with Funtouch overlay UI).
Vivo has also announced Xplay 5, a less aggressive variant powered by Snapdragon 652 chip and has 4GB of RAM. Everything else is similar to the Xplay 5 Elite. Do we really need a smartphone with 6GB of RAM, we don’t think so. Do we like having a smartphone with 6GB of RAM? Of course! The more, the better. Isn’t it?
