Uber brings Family Profiles to let you share one payment method
Uber has started testing a new feature that will help families make payments using one payment mode. The new Family Profiles feature will enable families to use a single card for Uber across several devices. The feature is being launched in Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix and will allow up to 10 riders to safely and easily share one payment method.
If you are from one of the cities, you can go to setting and tapping the “Add a Family Profile” option. Then, you can select up to 10 contacts to add to the profile, and an invitation will be sent to them. Once they accept the invitation, they will be able to select Family Profile as their payment method for rides. The organizer will be billed for the rides.
Here are the steps for using the Family Profiles:
For the Family Profile organizer:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Uber app.
- Go to Menu and choose Settings.
- Scroll down to “Add a Family Profile” and select the contacts you would like to add.
- As soon as the Family Profile rider accepts the invitation, they can begin requesting rides from their own phone using the Family Profile as their payment method.
- The cost of the trip will automatically be billed to the Family Profile and the organizer will receive a receipt for every ride.
For the Family Profile rider:
- Open the email invitation to Family Profiles and accept.
- The first time you ride, make sure you’re using the latest version of the app and choose the Family Profile as your default payment method.
- Once selected, request a ride as you normally would and get moving!
