Toshiba releases FlashAir Wi-Fi equipped SD cards in USA
Looks like Wi-Fi eqipped SD cards is the new USP for flash memory manufacturers. Few days ago, we posted news on Transcend releasing Wi-Fi SD cards. Today, Toshiba has announced the launch of FlashAir branded SD cards that come with built in Wi-Fi access point.
“Sharing and transferring photos from a camera to all the various gadgets a consumer owns these days can be a tedious process,” said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of product marketing and development of branded storage products, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “To simplify this process, Toshiba has created the FlashAir, which allows photos to be transferred wirelessly from a digital camera to a Wi-Fi-enabled PC, tablet or smartphone, removing the need for cables or card removal.”
Toshiba has tied up Olympus to provide FlashAir card for free on purchase of select Olympus camera and if you want to buy he card only, it will cost $79.99 MSRP with a warranty of five years. FlashAir will be available in 8GB variant only for now and below is the full list of specification:
