Time spend on messaging and social apps, by Indians, grew up by 52% – Flurry Analytics
Flurry, is a mobile analytics, monetization and advertising platform, which was recently acquired by Yahoo. Flurry help developers to understand mobile advertising in their apps and marketers to understand the end users. Flurry conducted a study in India to understand mobile app usage among Indians and the study reports reveal interesting insights.
We know that app usage is on the rise in India as India is one of the fastest growing market for smartphones. Flurry puts a number to that knowledge and says that there is 43% YoY growth of app usage in India. Specifically Indians like to spend time on Messaging and social apps as these apps saw a growth of 52%. Indians prefer larger devices and phablets (above 5.5 inch) have a whooping 61% market share.

Other interesting findings
- With most of the mobile having their own theme and customization engine, less Indians prefer apps for personalization. This segment of apps saw a decrease at -32%
- E-Commerce and shopping apps are steadily increasing by 12% in India while the global YoY growth is 31%
- Surprisingly, gaming apps have declined by 4% globally and in India, it is seeing a marginal growth by 12%
