Thanks to Reliance Jio, I have stopped asking Wi-Fi password

Internet through Wi-Fi has become an integral part of lives. There is hardly any house in cities that does not have internet connectivity (via Wi-Fi). So, the first thing we ask when we go to a friend’s place is not water, we enquire Wi-Fi SSID and password. Such is the quality of our cellular networks that we rely a lot on home broadband to connect to the world wide web. Recently, I went on a 10 day trip to visit my relatives and friends in my hometown and I carried the LYF phone with Jio trial SIM. Here are some key events that made me understand what a True 4G network is capable of!

Reliance Jio

Skype call where Airtel is stuck at 2G

I was attending a birthday function and I wanted to show the cake cutting live to my cousins. When I checked Airtel (location : Paloncha, Khamma District), it was showing 2G and even voice calls were stuttering. Logged in to LYF phone, checked speedtest and it shows double digits. Quickly made a Skype call and the call stayed on without breaking till I ended the call to celebrate on stage. The ability of being able to stream the ceremony to those who cannot attend, being able to capture photos and share them right there to those eagerly waiting on other side of earth is absolutely priceless! Airtel praised themselves but failed big time in providing that stable fast network when in need.

4G LTE everywhere

While I was driving, be it on a river-side road to reach the east coast, whether its drive in a forest or through remote areas, the network was there. I felt as if all those Airtel 4G ads that shows network at every corner or the world were actually meant for Reliance Jio and I am not at all exaggerating. This truly is the network that followed me where ever I went.

Forgot to get a gift, no problemo

Went to my sister’s place to celebrate Rakshabandhan and thanks to the super fast Jio network, I logged in to Amazon, purchased a gift card and sent it over to her in a matter of minutes. While in a bus, I downloaded few books from Amazon (Kindle Unlimited) to my Kindle reader.

JioFi to the rescue

Back in my home town, we used to have  a local broadband provider that my mom used. When she was not in town for some time, she had the connection deactivated. This was back in January and since then we have been calling the broadband guys every week and no one arrived to activate the connection again. We got irritated and I got a Reliance JioFi with Jio SIM and in a matter of few hours, the connection was activated and its working like a charm. The best part is that with JioFi, my mom will get high speed broadband wherever she goes and she does not have to enable 4G data services on her primary phone. All she has to do is charge JioFi and carry it in her hand bag.

Jio Play to the rescue

My dad is an avid cricket fan and he is such a big fan that he won’t let anyone watch any other sports event. I wanted to watch the Badminton final on TV but alas, dad is more interested in watching some old cricket match between India and Windies. Thanks to Jio Play, I quickly opened my phone, logged in to Jio Play and started watching badminton game (without any timed delay). This is something that Airtel users can only dream of.

Back in Bangalore

The last time I reached Tin Factory area in Bangalore by bus, it took 20 minutes and a lot of walking to get connected to internet to book a cab. Once I had to rely on BIAL free Wi-Fi as Airtel was absolutely pathetic over there and even calls wouldn’t go through.

This time, thanks to Jio network, I was able to book a cab. By the time I got down from the bus, Uber assigned a cab and by the time I picked my luggage from the luggage compartment, the cab had arrived.

No more asking Wi-Fi Passwords

All throughout the trip, I never asked for Wi-Fi password. This is a first! When I was at my home, I enabled Wi-Fi hotspot on LYF phone (this was before we got JioFi) so that my cousins can connect to the same network. Imagine the feeling that you get when you do not have to rely on any other network, the feeling you get when internet is just an unlock away, the feeling when you do not have to run outdoors to connect to the network.

This is what  4G revolution is, don’t you think? It is surprising that the network that has been there for more than two decades, making huge profits every year does not have a proper network any where in the country while a cellular network that is yet to start commercial operations is providing solid network connectivity across the country. All hail the new king, Reliance Jio!
