TCL planning to build manufacturing plants in India and Brazil
TCL Corp, based in China, is one of the world’s largest mobile handset and television manufacturers. TCL Corp is now seeking to build factories in India and Brazil next year. This move is to reduce the heavy tariffs applied in these countries. Given that the consumer electronics markets in these countries are growing at a rapid pace, having manufacturing plants outside of these countries does not make sense, does it?
“We hope to complete factory construction next year and have a better foundation for growth in the future in these two emerging markets,” TCL Corp Chief Executive Li Dongsheng told Reuters in an interview last week.
TCL Communication sells smartphones and wearable devices under Alcatel and TCL OneTouch brand names and is the seventh largest handset maker in the world, according to Gartner Inc. TCL is expecting to have 30% revenue growth in India this year alone.
