SwiftKey Symbols is tailor made for those with communication disability
Symbols is a new assistive keyboard for Android users, from the makers of top 3rd party keyboard SwiftKey. Symbols keyboard is designed for those who have difficulty with communication and learning, like those with Autism. Currently in beta, Symbols keyboard is targeted at those with special needs. Users can download the application from Google Play Store.
Symbols keyboard provides a list of images using which users can communicate with on their phone. SwiftKey’s core prediction and personalization algorithm learns from each individual and the more it is used, the better it gets. How Symbols work is very simple. By choosing the right images, users can build a sentence. There are set of categories from which users can pick images and Symbols also throws images to pick via prediction slider. For more accurate prediction, time of day and day of week is taken into account.
“The communication opportunities that this app will provide are amazing. The flexible use of symbols will allow pupils with severe communication difficulties to express themselves in meaningful ways and the predictive symbol function means that it can be truly personalised. Brilliant!”, said Ryan Barnes
