Spero E-Bike is all set to make your urban commute, a breeze

In the ever rising traffic commotion in the urban jungle, we constantly think of ways to get out of the mess or sometimes think about solving it. Very few people actually come out and offer a solution. Mr Manikandan is one such innovator and he has built an e-bike for urban commute, called Spero. Based out of Bangalore, Mr Manikandan hails from a family which understands manufacturing and business models. I first heard about the Spero a few week back while scanning my Facebook wall. Yesterday I got to chance to meet up with Mr Manikandan and to hear from him, the thought behind Spero.

Spero is currently a crowd funded project. It is listed in fueladream.com which is an Indian crowdfunding solution. During the interaction with the press and media, Mr Ranganath Thota explained the crowd funding scenario in India and shared a few ideas which turned out to be successful campaigns at fueladream.

Spero is an electric bike and it comes in three variants. The 30 KM variant is the base model and it can offer a range of the 30 KM. There is also 60 and 100 km variant. The campaign has raised about Rs 9.5 lakhs until the moment and it is gaining momentum as we speak.

The Spero offers a speed of 0-25 kmph in under 10 seconds. It has 5 speed electric gear modes. The battery is loaded on the front while the motor is on the rear wheels. You get disc brakes on the front as a standard offering.. The battery is a 48V Li-ion battery with a 1-year warranty and charges from 20 to 80% in 4 hours. It charges from a regular 5 ampere socket and the battery is detachable. It is over-heating cut off circuits for safety and the cycle is locked with a password for security. Apart from these features, it is a regular bike. Its tyres and accessories can be changed or replaced off the market as it used regular bike accessories.

The pre-order prices range from Rs 29ooo to Rs 51000 which is about 40% lower than the market price, when the bike goes on the public market. This is a very innovative and one-of-a-kind crowd funded campaign and I strongly recommend you to have a look at the campaign here and support it in any way you can.
