Sony is crowdfunding its new Qrio smart lock
Sony, the Japanese giant has started a campaign for an interesting new product it calls the Qrio smart lock.
Smartphones are commonplace these days, and to make an interesting use out of them, Sony has come up with an idea – a smart lock which opens with your smartphone. The lock is quite small, and since it’s made by Sony, it’s got the looks going for it.
The Qrio smart lock will open with smartphones, as mentioned, but even more interestingly, you can share the keys via Line and Facebook. The keys are encrypted, of course.
Sony has reportedly crowdfunded a product already, before the Qrio smart lock. This time, the company has set the price of the lock at $95. According to the WSJ, the company is hoping for 1,500 orders at the very least. At the time of writing this, the campaign pledge has exceeded 300%, so there’s definitely a lot of interest in the idea.
