Sony announces VAIO FIt lineup of notebooks for students and business users
This week, Sony announced a new high quality (but with a very affordable price tag) lineup of notebooks. Called VAIO Fit, these laptops are built with Sony’s top notch digital imaging, sound and display technologies. FIt lineup is optimized to make the most of Windows 8’s features.
“We built the brand new VAIO Fit line from many of the same features as our amazingly thin and powerful ultra-premium models but at an entry-level price point,” said Pedro LaFargo, SVP, Sony VAIO & Networked Products Division. “Our entire new Fit lineup is optimized for Windows 8 and incorporates the best technology that only Sony can provide from our innovative digital imaging, sound and TV divisions. The new Fit family is providing students and professionals’ on-the-go with advanced performance and design.”
Targeted at students and business users, Fit and Fit E are super thin ultrabooks with tough aluminium body and comes with 14” and 15” displays. White 15”display panel has FullHD resolution, 14”panel comes with 1600×900 pixel resolution. To alleviate the beauty of these notebooks, Sony has added signature sparkling diamond cut VAIO logo. Users can also opt for a touchscreen display.
Other features include a full-size backlit keyboard, ClearAudio+ audio featuring a build in sub-woofer, high quality webcam with Exmor R CMOS sensor that offers very good low light performance, NFC, large touchpad, quick charge, Rapid Wake fast PC boot feature, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi,
On the sofware front, VAIO FIt laptops come with WIndows 8 OS and have wide array of professional tools like ArtRage Studio, Imagination Studio, ACID Music Studio, DVD ARchitect etc. Under the hood, Fit models are powered by 3rd generation Intel Core processors (upto Core i7 for maximum performance), Hybrid HDD and optional SSD, option to add a Blu-Ray drive, optional NVIDIA graphics.
The best thing about this new series is that the base price is just $649 for Fit 14 and $699 for 15. Fit 14 and 15 will be available staring mid-May in Steel Black, Steel Pink and Steel Silver color options. Also, Fit E 14E and 15E are available at a base price of $899, $849 and $1249 respectively.
