Sony announce new memory cards for ultra high speed data transfers
Sony XQD-M is a new series of ultra high data transfer card readers for XQD and SD formats, announced at CES last week. Designed for high performance DSLR cameras, the new series can reach 440MB/s read and 150MB/s write speeds and can backup 64GB of data in under 3 minutes. Sony has also announced new SF-M series UHS-II supported cards and these can reach speeds up to 260MB/s for read and 100MB/s for write operations. Both XQD-M and SF-M are dust proof, X-Ray prof, anti-static and magnet proof.
“As digital imaging cameras become more advanced, capturing larger high resolution files, the demand increases for faster and more efficient ways to manage photo and video data, giving shooters peace of mind they’ll never miss a critical shot,” said Darin Scott, President of Sony’s AMEG, Americas Media and Energy Group. “These latest media options allow files to be transferred and backed up even more seamlessly and efficiently, offering users the flexibility and convenience to embrace workflows that frequently require the need for content in real-time.”
A new MRW-E90 card reader will be available soon to support ultra high speed data transfer to a PC from the new series of cards. MRW-E90 comes with USB 3.1 standard.
