Should you Install the Oxygen OS on your Oneplus?
After months of speculation and waiting, Oneplus one will finally get the Lollipop update. But its not from Cyanogen OS that hit the shelf first, its Oneplus very own Oxygen OS. The Oxygen OS is developed on Android Lollipop 5.0.2. So it here now and should you or shouldn’t you install it in your mobile?
Reasons you should get the Oxygen
- Oxygen OS is pure android ROM with bare minimum changes.
- It is clean, snappy and gives you the GPE or Nexus experience.
- It is the first official lollipop update for Oneplus.
- It has no touch screen issues and is quite stable.
Reasons you should probably not get it
- I hate google native camera. The one with Oxygen OS does not have support for RAW. Does not shoot videos in 4K or slow motion.
- No privacy guard or application permission manager
- Double tab will wake the mobile, but will not put it to sleep.
- Will miss out on the customization options.
I did install the ROM on my mobile and here is a simple set of instructions to install Oxygen in your Oneplus. Here are a few screenshots and benchmark scores of the Oxygen OS on Oneplus.

Oxygen OS is probably a baby step towards what could mature into a better ROM for your Oneplus. But now, it is nothing to be excited about. Anyways if you have already rooted your Oneplus already, don’t limit yourself with Oxygen OS. You can install any one of the many custom ROMs available.
- Cyanogen 12 (Unofficial 5.1 build) – The war horse
- Slim ROM – Slim and Mean
- Omni ROM – Trusted
- Resurrection Remix (5.1) – New Kid on the block
