Second generation LG L series phones to get Knock feature

LG G2 came with an interesting (and of course, useful) features called “Knock”. To turn the screen on or off you need to knock on the display twice. Knock on the display twice to turn on display and known twice on top navigation bar to put the display to sleep. Check the video at the bottom of this page to understand how this features works (video in German language, courtesy LG Germany).

This week, LG has announced that the popular L series II (second generation L series) smartphones will get this Knock feature and the new feature will be included in their next software update, due January 2014.

“Knock is distinctively an LG UX and a great example of what happens when you marry the latest in mobile technology with consumer-centric insights,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics’ Mobile Communications Company, “No one ever thought that a power button needed to be improved until our engineers wondered why they couldn’t turn the entire screen into a power button.”
