Google unveils second-gen Android One with Lava Pixel V1
Lava Pixel V1 is the first device among the second generation of Android One smartphones. Launched in India for INR 11,349, the Lava Pixel V1 comes with a 5.5 inch HD display and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Google has had a shaky start to its Android One program, with its affordable devices not being received as well as it was assumed. With that experience behind, Google has improved its offerings for the second generation of Android One devices. The Lava Pixel V1 comes with an impressively good looking exterior and some really good specs on the inside.
- Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
- 5.5 inch IPS LCD display, HD resolution, 1280 x 720 pixels
- 1.3 GHz quad core Mediatek MT6582 processor, Mali-400MP2 GPU
- 13 MP camera, LED flash, 1080p at 30 FPS recording; front facing 8 MP camera
- 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage expandable with a microSD card
- Dual SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio
- 2650 mAh battery
- INR 11,349
While the pricing has definitely seen a sharp rise, the specs make it worth it. With stock Android and updates directly from Google, you don’t have to worry about your device being left out while others get updated. The only downside to the Lava Pixel V1 is the lack of 4G LTE support. With so many companies launching 4G capable devices across price ranges, it makes no sense why Google wouldn’t add it too.
Still, the Lava Pixel V1 is an impressive way to kick off the second generation of Android One devices. The phone is available on Flipkart at a price of INR 11,349.
