Sachin Tendulkar endorsed Smartron debuts with t.book
Smartron, a company founded by Mahesh Lingareddy, Narsi Reddy and Rohit Rathi, marks its debut in the Indian market with a convertible tablet named the t.book. Smartron and their vision has attracted renowned former Indian Cricket player, Sachin Tendulkar who is not just a brand ambassador for Smartron, but also investor. Smartron is based out of Hyderabad and they carry “designed and engineered” in India as their moto. At an event in Delhi, moments after the founders unveiled the Smartron brand, Sachin unveiled the t.book. Mr Mahesh Lingareddy also mentioned there will be more products from Smartron to look out for. Their flagship mobile, the t.phone will be unveiled on April 18th in Hyderabad.
The family of hardware devices along with a bunch of software algorithm constitute what is called tron.x by Smartron. The tron.x promises a seamless connectivity and consistent experience across all the hardware and software components from Smartron. It also offers to sync your data across multiple devices. It is also integrated with t.care, which is a customer care solutions for all Smartron solutions.
Smartron t.book is a convertible tablet, which can also function as your laptop when connected the foldable smart-cover keypad. Smartron t.book is priced at Rs 39999 which includes the smart cover keypad. It runs on Windows 10 Home and also the pro version is available for a higher price. On my first impressions, the device has a very solid construction and the design is elegant. The choice of materials is commendable. The table is made of metal (magnesium and Aluminium alloy) and the hinges operate smoothly. The keyboard attached to the tablet via magnetic connectors and the strength of connection is very strong. The play in the keyboard is very much comparable to any laptop keyboard, but it is non-backlit. It has a 2 MP front facing camera flanked by dual speakers, for your video calls. The rear has a 5 MP camera module.
The display supports 2k resolution and measures 12.2 inch diagonally. The responsiveness was a bit lacking the speed, but that is just my observation, having spent only a few minutes with the device. It is powered by Intel Core M processor at 2 GHz and it has 4 GB of RAM. The battery promises to keep the device powered up for over 10 hours. The t.book is one of the first tablets to use the USB-C port. It also has 2 x USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI port along with the 3.5 mm audio jack. The price tag of Rs 40k is very competitive. Smartron t.book looks to be a promising device and as Sachin puts it, it would be a pride to see this Indian made device decorate the lives around the globe. t.book will go on sale via gadget360.com from April 8th. It is available in 2 color options, the full grey and grey with orange.
