Rowi for Windows Phone gets mega update

Rowi, one of the most popular and widely used Twitter client on Windows Phone has received a major update this week (updated to version 3.4) that enables users to receive push notifications instantly on multiple devices and with multiple accounts. Also added is a lock screen support for Windows Phone 8 devices. To get a complete idea on everything that is changed in v3.4, read this blog post from devs.

Rowi’s instant notification feature means that you get notification the moment someone posts to your timeline or sends you a DM. Rowi makes use of ‘Streaming API’ for this which means that the connection between Rowi and Twitter servers is continuous (and this could be a bit heavy on battery). This feature is available only on timeline, mentions and direct messages. You can pause this mode by clicking on pause button at the bottom bar (shown in the image below)

Push notifications is another area that is vastly improved over previous version. You can enable/disable push notification by a simple push of a button in notifications setting menu but you can customize what you have to be notified about and whether you want the notifications to show up on lockscreen. Do note that push notifications are available only in paid version of Rowi. in case you have multiple accounts configured in rowi, you can opt to get notified for all accounts or only for primary account.
