Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro – Which one should you buy?
Realme, a spinoff brand from Oppo is breaking all records and turning out to be a competent competitor for many mobile brands, especially Xiaomi. It is not a cold war, but an open war between these two brands. Xiaomi talks about Realme in their presenation videos and today at the Realme launch event, almost every slide of the presentation had a comparison with Redmi Note 7 Pro. Realme is an aggressive young brand and they want the the alpha spot from Xiaomi. Xiaomi is a mature brand that has learnt the art of mobile manufacturing, trading, and marketing. They have turned the market upside down, in their favor, across the globe in many countries.
With the launch of Realme 3 Pro, as a consumer, you would be torn between choosing it and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. As a tech blogger, let me not worry about the brand wars that is hovering over our heads and look at these two mobiles and find out which one is better.

Design – Advantage – Redmi Note 7 Pro
Redmi Note 7 Pro is a sturdier device of the two. It has Corning Glass protection at the front and back. Glass may be less durable than plastic, but the glossy plastic material used in Realme 3 Pro is prone to scratches and your device would be worn out within a few months of normal usage. Though there has been many questions about the structural integrity of Redmi Note 7 Pro, we have not seen any break or bend test on the Realme 3 Pro. Style and aesthetics are personal choices, but with respect to structural integrity, I would vouch for Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Display – Advantage – Realme 3 Pro
In terms of specifications, both the mobile have exactly the same numbers in the display department. But Redmi mobiles are not very bright in display. Redmi Note 7 Pro has good sunlight legibility, but in terms of color vibrancy and display brightness, Realme 3 Pro takes the advantage.
Processor Performance – Advantage – Redmi Note 7 Pro
Snapdragon 675 has Kyro 460 cores which is better than the Kyro 360 cores in Snapdragon 710. But the SD710 has 10nm architecture while the SD675 has 11 nm. But in practical usage the Kryo cores would make bigger difference than the nano meters. The 675 is better suited for your daily task and has a superior ISP as well. Redmi Note 7 Pro wins this round.
Gaming Performance – Advantage Realme 3 Pro
Gaming performance would be marginally better on the Realme 3 Pro, due to a better GPU. Adreno 616 can churn out framers and render graphics better than Adreno 612. So again, Realme 3 pro takes the lead.
Rear Camera – Advantage Redmi Note 7 Pro
It is a close call here. Redmi Note 7 Pro is the first device in this segment to have the Sony IMX 586 48 MP sensor. It can generate true 48 MP in an image, while the 16 MP sensor can only generate interpolated 64 MP shot. Though the Realme 3 Pro can shoot ultra slo-mo videos at 960 fps, my vote would be for the one with better hardware and that is the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It rules the segment with the best rear camera.
Selfie Camera – Advantage Realme 3 Pro
With the software processing from Oppo, who are the leaders in Selfie mobiles, Realme 3 Pro has a 25 MP har
Battery Performance – Advantage Realme 3 Pro
Though Redmi Note 7 Pro supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 out of the box, it does not have a QC 4 or any 18W charger in the box. I have tested the Redmi Note 7 Pro with a QC 4.0 charger, QC 30 and the 10 W Charger in the box. It takes a minimum of 95 min to charge the mobile with a QC4+ charger. But Realme 3 Pro includes a 20 W Vooc charger in the box. While that gesture scores a massive win for Realme 3 Pro, it can charge the 4045 mAh battery in about 60 min. Realme 3 Pro is a clear winner here.
Software – Advantage – Redmi Note 7 Pro
Though, there are ads in MIUI, they can be disabled completely. MIUI is very stable and one of the most reliable mobile skins out there. Color OS 6 on Realme 3 Pro promises a lot of improvements, but MIUI is the leader here. I have used both these skins and clearly MIUI is miles ahead of the Color OS in terms of user experience and software stability.
Pricing and Availability
Redmi mobiles are always plagued by Flash sales and this has been frustrating for potential buyers. But we expect Redmi Note 7 Pro to be available on open sale soon. Both the mobiles are available at the exactly same price tag of Rs 13999 / Rs 16999.
Which one should you buy?
Both these mobiles are strong contenders. They offer promising value for money and flagship like performance. Now that you know which is better than the other in every department, you can make an informed decision based on your personal usage. If your importance is more on the camera and real-life performance, go for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. If you are a gamer and a selfie person and need a super fast charger, go for the Realme 3 Pro.
