Razer Project Valerie laptop is definitely among the absolutely best products announced at CES 2017. Until few years ago, Razer’s work was limited to gaming peripherals (mice, headset, speakers, keyboard etc). Lately they have been innovating and out-classing existing gaming notebook makers. Razer Blade was considered one of the best gaming notebooks and now, Razer took the innovation in Notebooks to next level. Razer Project Valerie is a new notebook from Razer that has three 17.3″ 4K IGZO displays. The Razer Project Valkerie is not final product yet so there is no announcement on pricing or availability. While the Razer Project Valerie laptop looks like a normal laptop with single display and all, when required, the two extra displays are deployed automatically using slide out mechanism designed by Razer. This is pure sci-fi stuff. The two displays slide out to either side of prime display and lock into place. This will be extremely useful for those who prefer multi display setup and feel that having two external displays connected to laptop makes it too messy. All three displays are compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync technology and have 100% Adobe RGB color accuracy rating.
“The complexities of a traditional multi-monitor setup are a thing of the past with Project Valerie,” says Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan. “Equally important, the power of a desktop computer and graphics capabilities of three top-end monitors are included in the system. There is no shortcoming in the way of performance in the face of its amazing portability and features.”
“Multi-monitor desktop set-ups are becoming more necessary for professionals, creators, and gamers,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “For the first time, we’ve engineered a solution that users can take with them. Project Valerie promises all of the functionality of three screens and none of the hassle.”
The Razer project Valerie shell is made out of unibody CNC aluminum and measures just 1.5″ thick. Also, the notebook weighs less than 12 pounds (around 5kgs). Do note that this is a notebook that has three displays, high end gaming components inside. To control heat inside the notebook (driving 3 4K displays is not an easy task), Razer has implemented custom designed fan and dynamic heat exchanger pair with a vapor chamber to maximize heat dissipation.
Razer Project Valerie keyboard comes with ultra low profile mechanical switches that Razer has pioneered in 2016. The low profile switches mimic the feel of full size mechanical switches. The keyboard, trackpad and extended monitors are powered by Razerr Chrome so that users can create various lighting effects.
