Raspberry announces Pi B+, on sale now
Raspberry Pi was one of the revolutionary products that came out in last decade or so. Today, Raspberry has announced Model B+, a higher specced model, avialble for same price tag of $35. Though B+ uses same BCM2835 procedssor and 512MB of RAM, the key improvements are listed below. The B+ is available for sale already from regular Raspberry resellers and you can also order from Farnell/element14/Newark here, and at RS/Allied Components here. Though the upgrades are good, we would’ve loved to see more RAM added to the board as it gives more freedom to linux distro devs and to app developers.
- four USB 2.0 ports (up from two)
- 40 pin GPIO header (up from 26 pin and is backwards compatible)
- microSD card slot
- lower power consumption
- better audio quality
- better port alignment
Here is the circuit diagram/specs for B+
