Qualcomm to build huge development facility in Hyderabad

Qualcomm, the leading chipmaker of phone/tablet chips is going to invest huge $400 million to setup a facility in Hyderabad. The phase I of this project will have enough space to house 10000 employees. Outside of USA, this will be their largest facility, once ready. 

Qualcomm, started in 1988, has become kind of a monopoly in smartphone and tablet market. Almost every smartphone and tablet that is coming out today comes with a Qualcomm chip. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Qualcomm operates in 224 worldwide lcoations. One of the major divisions of Qualcomm is Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. 

Qualcomm is going to spend $400 million to setup this new facility in Hyderabad. The announcement came from Telangana state government. Work on the facility will start sometime in 2019. 

“We have Apple, Amazon, GoogleMicrosoftFacebook, and now Qualcomm. This list will only increase as they are a few more in the pipeline that we are working actively with. This is indeed a big boost to the state of Telangana, as well as to the electronics, and semiconductors industry…,” he said.
