Even before all the OEMs announce their new flagships sporting Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm has gone ahead and announced the Snapdragon 820. Trying to rectify the shortcomings of the Snapdragon 810, the company is in a damage control mode.
Qualcomm announced that the Snapdragon 820 will feature a Qualcomm custom core, the Kryo processor. It could be TSMC’s 16 nm processor or Samsung’s 14 nm processor, Qualcomm didn’t reveal exactly which process will be opted for.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 will feature its custom Kryo 64-bit processor. Debuting in the second half of 2015, you can expect at least one device as early as November or December this year with flagships from other companies to follow soon thereafter.
