Qualcomm Smart Protect anti malware protection will come in SD820

Qualcomm Zeroth™ is a new security technology from the leading chipmaker, to be used in upcoming Snapdragon 820 flagship chipset. Zeroth™ is designed to accurately detect zero-day malware threats and nullify them for improved personal and device privacy/security. Snapdragon Smart Protect will be the first application to utilized Zeroth™ tech. Smart Protect will provide real-time malware detection, classification and cause analysis using advanced cognitive computing behavioral engine.

“With consumers storing more personal information on their devices, data leakage incidents and malware are on the rise. Qualcomm Technologies is uniquely equipped to address these issues with our ability to access lower layers of the software stack and dedicated security hardware, to create a device-based, behavioral analysis approach for mobile security,” said Asaf Ashkenazi, director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Snapdragon Smart Protect supports deep on-device monitoring for nearly instantaneous notifications of detected privacy violations and malicious activity while also providing great system performance and battery life.”

Qualcomm is currently working with OEMs and mobile security suite developers to make Smart Protect integrated into commercial anti-malware applications. Qualcomm is planning to bring Smart Protect to consumer devices in the year 2016 with the release of Snapdragon 820.
