Qualcomm announce Snapdragon 617 and Snapdragon 430 chips
Qualcomm has announced extension to the Snapdragon 6xx series and 4xx series lineup, with the introduction of Snapdragon 617 and Snapdragon 430 chips. While SD617 is for high and mid-tier devices, 430 is targeted at affordable devices. Devices powered by SD617 will be available by end of this year while devices powered by SD430 will be available in 2016.
Snapdragon 617 will come with an Octa core setup of Cortex A53 cores and can attain speeds up to 1.5Ghz. Adreno 405 will be taking of graphics computation. There is X8 LTE onboard, supporting Cat 7 download speeds (up to 300Mbps, 100Mbps upload speed). SD617 can support up to 21mp camera, boasts dual ISPs for great image processing, can record FullHD videos at 60fps, can handle 1080p resolution on-device display and can drive an external 1080p display. SD617 can be joined with LPDDR3 RAM (up to 933MHz), eMMC 5.1 storage, USB 2.0 connector and comes with built in 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1 with BLE. Snapdragon 617 is manufactured using 28nm fabrication. Best part is that SD617 devices will get support for QuickCharge 3.0 which can charge upto 80% of battery under 30 minutes.
Snapdragon 430 will come with an Octa core setup of Cortex A53 cores and can attain speeds up to 1.2Ghz. SD430 is the first chip to come with Adreno 505 GPU. There is X6 LTE onboard, supporting Cat 4 download speeds (up to 150Mbps, 75Mbps upload speed). SD430 can support up to 21mp camera, boasts dual ISPs for great image processing, can handle 1080p resolution on-device display and can drive an external 1080p display. SD430 can be joined with LPDDR3 RAM (up to 800MHz), eMMC 5.1 storage, USB 2.0 connector and comes with built in 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1 with BLE. Snapdragon 430 is manufactured using 28nm fabrication. Best part is that SD430 devices will get support for QuickCharge 3.0 which can charge upto 80% of battery under 30 minutes.
