POCO announced TWS earphone – Here is my wishlist

True wireless earphones are very popular Bluetooth earphones. There are a gazillion brands selling TWS earphones out there and you can get them in every budget and design configurations. You need not spend a huge amount to buy a good quality TWS earphones. For around Rs 2000, you can get a decent pair of earphones from a reliable brand. But the problem is, not every TWS earphone has solved every problem we face with such kind of BT earphones.

POCO India had a virtual community meetup and in that event, POCO fans wanted the brand to come up with TWS earphones. POCO agreed to it and announced that they will soon come up with TWS earphones. Xiaomi India does not any TWS earphones on its product portfolio, but in China, Xiaomi has launched quite a number of models. If POCO comes up with a TWS, that will be the first TWS from Xiaomi to be launched in India. Also, it could be one of the global models rebranded as POCO TWS. It could also be a completely newly designed and engineered TWS for/by POCO. We have no confirmation of this.

A re-branded TWS or a brand new TWS, we would have to wait for the launch for a confirmation. Either ways, let me list down my wishlist for the new POCO TWS earphones.

My Wishlist – TWS features

1. Low Latency mode for gaming
2. IR sensor – auto pause and resume play
3. IP rating for both earphones and the charging case
4. 3-4 hours battery on a single charge
5. Memory Foam ear tips in addition to Rubber tips
6. ANC (but it would shoot up the price, maybe there is a pro version)
7. Wireless charging case
8. Gesture controls
9. Alexa integration. TWS can wake the AI assistants, but integrated Alexa would take it to the next level.
10. Air pass-through

These features are not new to the TWS segment, but there is not a single TWS available with all these features. There is always a compromise. Most earphones have just one of the above-mentioned points. If POCO comes up with a minimum 3 of the above mentioned 10 points, that would be a killer. That would make the POCO TWS stand out distinctly in this overcrowded TWS market.

Also, POCO must avoid that ugly stem design which is common out there and looks like Apple Airpods. As the product is for India, White color must be avoided. Black with Poco yellow accents would be a killer design option. Charging case design is something most TWS earphones overlook. Poco TWS charging case must be small and must have LED indicators to show the battery percentage, if not a display. It must also take a bold step forward and go for a USB-C port.

The launch price is also a very sensitive factor for the success of any product in Indian market. I conducted an online twitter poll and found that many expect the Poco earphones to be priced under Rs 2000. Personally, I believe that they can price it upto 3000. But if they choose to have 2-3 features from my wish list, Poco can price it upto Rs 5k or 6k. Also there could be a pro variant with these features that could target the premier segment while the base variant can be priced at under 3k for the mass segment. Let’s wait and see what Poco is cooking!
