OPPO R17 comes with tear drop notch and Snapdragon 670

The much awaited Oppo R17 smartphone is finally official this week. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset, the Oppo R17 comes with a 6.4″ FullHD display and has dual camera setup at the back. R17 will come in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, priced at CNY 3499. Oppo R17 will be available in wine red and bluish green color options.

One key feature of the Oppo R17 is the new tear drop style notch on the display. It is good to see a display that is not sporting iPhone X like notch without the face detection technology. First brought in by Essential Phone PH-1, we should now see more and more brands embrace this new display notch type.

Also, this is the first phone to come with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 670 chipset. This new chipset is going to be the go-to chipset for midrange phone. The usual dual camera setup at the back and high megapixel front facing lens is continued on R17, to please shutterbugs.
