Oppo Announces Oppo R9 and R9 Plus
Oppo has unveiled two new smartphones with focus on camera. The Oppo R9 andOppo R9 Plus have been priced at CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs. 29,000) and CNY 3,299 (approximately Rs. 34,000) respectively.
The two devices are identical in looks but are different under the hood. The only noticeable difference between the two is the screen size. The R9 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display while the R9 Plus features a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display. Both smartphones have a fingerprint sensor on the front below the display which the company claims will unlock in just 0.2 seconds.
Connectivity options on both the phones include 4G with VoLTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB.
Oppo R9
The R9 features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor clocked at 2GHz with 4 GB of RAM. The Oppo R9 comes with thin bezels and it measures 1.66mm on the sides. The device measures 151.8 x 74.3 x 6.6mm.
The Oppo R9 runs ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The device supports dual-SIM and comes with hybrid SIM slot which can be used to expand storage. The device comes with 64 GB of storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB with microSD card.
The secondary camera on this device comes with a better resolution than the primary camera. The R9 features a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash, with an f/2.2 aperture. The secondary camera features Samsung’s 16-megapixel ISOCELL sensor and a bright f/2.0 aperture.
The R9 is powered by a 2850mAh battery that comes with VOOC flash charge that claims to offer up to 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charging.
Oppo R9 Plus
The R9 Plus comes with a bigger display compared to the R9. The R9 Plus features a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 (MSM8976) processor clocked at 1.8GHz clubbed with 4 GB of RAM and it comes in 65/128 GB variants which can be further expanded with the help of microSD card.
The Oppo R9 Plus runs ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The device is powered by a 4120mAh with VOOC flash charge that claims to offer up to 2 hours of talk time in just 5 minutes of charging.
The R9 Plus features a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 image sensor on the back. The primary camera is the same 16-megapixel as the Oppo R9.
The Oppo R9 will go on sale from March 24 in China while the Oppo R9 Plus is expected to be available from April 12.
