Opera Mini for Android Gets a New Update

Opera Mini

Opera Mini is a web browser which specialises in reducing the amount of mobile data you consume. Opera Mini for Android has been updated adding an improved Download Manager offering users additional control while downloading content. Opera Software in a press statement claimed that “download managers are a highly-sought-after feature” for users in India.

Opera Mini will now allow you to decide how many files are to be downloaded at the same time. Other options you have include deciding whether or not to be notified when each download starts, and when it ends. You can pick how many files the browser can download together at the same time, and even select the destination for each file downloaded. You can have the app ask before downloading large files, or you could limit all downloads to Wi-Fi.

Another big change is the inclusion of a category bar on the top of the browser, above the address bar. You can now select a category such as web, images, shopping, video, or news before conducting a search.

What’s New

  • New address bar color and category labels for “Classic” app layout.
  • Download setting: Ask before downloading
  • Download setting: Concurrent downloads setting
  • Grouped download notifications
  • New file chooser when uploading files
  • Night mode toast on browser restart
  • Password manager in high data-savings mode for Android 4.4 and higher
  • Various stability and usability improvements
