OnePlus Type C Cable compatibility issue now has been addressed!
If you had purchased a OnePlus Type C USB cable to charge any other device other than the OnePlus 2 and found that it does not work, your woes has been heard. OnePlus is using a resistor in their OnePlus USB Type C adapter with may not be compatible with a few devices. If you have a OnePlus 2 to be charged with this adapter, then you will have no problem at all. While USB ports and cables are meant to be universally compatible across types, the Type C is relatively a new standard and it will normalize soon. The OnePlus adapter used a 10kΩ resistor while your device with USB C port would need a 56kΩ resistor because fast charging devices need more current. In order to protect the device from over heating during charging, these devices need a higher resistor. So effectively not only that the USB C adapter will not be compatible with your device, but it may also harm the device. But it is just a probability and OnePlus does not want to take chances.
So OnePlus is offering to give your money back when you return the USB C cable and adapter you purchased separately for charging your mobile. If you had got it to charge any other device other than the OnePlus 2, you can take the cable or adapter you wish to return to the nearest OnePlus repair center and get your money refunded after you return it. You have time till the end of December 2015 to get your refund.
