Now Stream Your Xbox One Games on HoloLens

HoloLens

Microsoft’s first mixed reality (MR) head-mounted display (HMD), HoloLens, is set to release as a developer edition in early 2016. Developers have been posting small clips showing the use of the HoloLens. One of these demos features HoloLens program manager Varun Mani streaming Halo 5: Guardians through the Xbox One on a virtual screen. The HoloLens will be available to selected external developers in the first quarter of next year at US$3,000 apiece.

The video shows Varun Mani streaming Halo 5 gameplay from his Xbox One over to the headset. The HoloLens then projects the overlay onto a nearby wall, fully mirroring the gameplay in real-time. The dev showed how users can drag the streaming pane across surfaces, making everyday objects into screens. “Wish you could take Halo with you everywhere you go? Now you can with HoloLens,” reads the video’s description.

It is obvious that custom-made games for the HoloLens will be a lot better compared to game-streaming and playing using a virtual display. We will soon be seeing more demos of various uses of the HoloLens and we might see more games being played using the HoloLens.
