Nokia 5.1 Plus announced in India
Nokia 5.1 Plus announced today was a definite surprise. Priced at Rs.15,999/- the new lower mid range smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. Starting 30th of August, Nokia 5.1 Plus will be available on sale from September. The 5.1 Plus comes with Android One certification, meaning that the OS is stock Android and users should get regular OS updates for 2 years. Nokia 5.1 Plus will be available in Gloss Black, Gloss White, Midnight Gloss Blue color options.
The price segment of 10k to 15k sees extremely heavy competition and brands like Xiaomi and Samsung have very strong hold in this segment. Lets hope that we see brands like Nokia create healthier competition.
Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with high gloss finish and has a protective CNC-machined metal camera bezel. The dual rear camera setup has a primary f/2.0 camera and the 5mp camera has monochrome sensor. The front 8mp sensor comes with f/2.2 sensor. One downside is the huge notch on the phone that looks really ugly. Now, I do not see the point of having a notch there when these is only tiny amount of display area on both sides of the notch.
