Motorola announces new Moto E and Moto E 4G – release date, price and specs
Motorola has unveiled the successor of the widely successful Moto E. The new Moto E and Moto E 4G succeed and build on the original Moto E, with a wide range of smartphones competing against Motorola’s latest offerings already.
The new Moto E and Moto E 4G come with a bigger IPS LCD display, upgrading from the 4.3 inch TFT panel that Motorola used in the original Moto E. The screen resolution has been maintained at qHD – 960×540 pixels, which is a bit funny considering that most of the Moto E competitors use an HD panel.
Let’s get down to the specs to make things easier to understand –
- Android 5.0 Lollipop
- 4.5 inch IPS LCD display, qHD resolution, 960×540 pixels, ~245 PPI
- 1.2 GHz quad core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor / 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragon 200 processor, Adreno 306 / Adreno 302 GPU
- 5 MP camera, Auto focus, 720p recording; front facing VGA camera
- 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, expandable with a microSD card
- LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio
- 2390 mAh battery
The biggest improvement is in the 4G version – the Moto E 4G is the one with a significant upgrade in its processor. The new Moto E simply has a bigger display, twice the internal storage, an Auto-focus camera and a bigger battery. With the processor remaining the same Snapdragon 200, it’s nothing more than a slight improvement over the original Moto E.
Motorola India has already announced the price for the Moto E at Rs. 6,999. Pricing for the Moto E 4G in India is not yet known, unfortunately. The new Moto E will become available on March 3rd in India and many other countries.
