Mobile brands have extended warranty period during COVID-19 Lockdown in India
India, along with the rest of the world is going through a very difficult phase. While the world is battling to survive the deadly pandemic COVID-19, everyone is doing their bit to help each other see the light at the end of the tunnel. Consumer electronics brands have also come forward to help their customers with their warranty period. Most of us are under lock-down and we are unable to move out of our houses, except for essential goods procurement or any other emergencies. If you have bought a mobile and if you feel that your warranty period is getting lapsed, during this hard time, a few mobile brands have come up with plans to extend that warranty period for you.
Realme – 30 days
Realme India was one of the first to come forward with a plan. They have extended the warranty on devices till May 31, whose warranty was to expire between March 20 and April 30, 2020. The replaced period of devices has also been extended by 30 days for those customers, who have purchased or will purchase realme devices from March 15 till April 30, 2020.
Infinix – 2 months
Quick to react to the situation, Infinix India also announced an extension of the warranty policy for its customers’ convenience. The extension dates for the warranty policies will be applicable to models that fall under the ‘Out of Warranty’ period from March 20, 2020, till May 31, 2020. This means that anybody’s device which goes out of warranty within this period gets an automatic extension for 2 months from the date of expiration of the warranty.
Tecno – 2 Months
Tecno has also extended the warranty by 2 months on all Tecno Smartphones whose warranty expires between 20th March- 31st March 2020.
Lenovo and Motorola – 75 days
Lenovo and Motorola are offering a free global warranty extension for up to 75 days through May 31, 2020, for all Lenovo / Motorola smartphones and accessories with warranties that are coming to an end between March 15 through April 30, 2020.
Asus – 30 days
Asus has extended the warranty on all its product line ups in India. The warranty extension will be available for all Smartphones, Laptops, Desktops, All in one, and Tablets whose warranty has expired during the lockdown period between March 25, 2020, and April 14, 2020, for a period of 30 days.
Oppo – upto May 31st
OPPO customers can avail of the offer warranty extension for products purchased from authorized offline and online platforms whose validity expires post 23rd March 2020 till 31st May.
Vivo – 90 days
Vivo India has extended the warranty period for their mobiles whose warranty is expiring between 1st March 2020 to 31st May 2020, to 90 days. The replacement period for the products expiring between 15th March 2020 to 30th May 2020, will be extended till 31st May 2020.
iQOO – 90 days
A relatively new sub-brand in India, iQOO have also extended its warranty period by 90 days. By far, Vivo and iQOO are the ones with the most generous extension.
Oneplus – May 31st
OnePlus have not only extended their expiring warranties till May 31st, but they have also extended the return period. They have extended the 15 day replacement period to 30 days. This temporary warranty adjustment will be valid until May 31. Warranty is extended to May 31 if yours expires between March 1 and May 30.
Samsung – May 31st
Industry leaders, Samsung have also extended the standard warranty till 31st May 2020, for all Samsung products whose warranty is expiring between 20th March to 30th April 2020. Just like Asus, this warranty extension applies to all their product lineups in India.
Honor – June 30th
HONOR also announced that it is extending the warranty period till 30th June 2020 for all HONOR phones, wearables, headsets and accessories whose warranties expire between 21st March and 21st June 2020.
Not only mobile brands, other players in the consumer tech industry like Haier have also extended this gesture of goodwill towards their customers. As we hear from other brands about their extension plans, I will keep updating this section.
