Microsoft sold 8.6 Million Lumia phones in Q3 2015
Microsoft has announced that the company managed to sell 8.6 million Lumia smartphones in Q3 2015. The Redmond based software giant announced this in its latest financial report for the third quarter of its Fiscal Year 2014-2015.
The presser shows that Microsoft has managed to increase the net volume of devices by 18% Year on Year for the Lumia smartphone series. However, the non-smartphones saw a decline in the same period compared to last year, with only 24.7 million dumb phones being sold in Q3 2015.
Lumia revenues continued to decline for the third straight time this year, with Microsoft recording $1.4 billion in Lumia smartphone sales. This is down 16% Year on Year. The Average Revenue Per User is declining due to more number of low cost Lumia phones selling better than the costlier ones. Overall, Windows Phone revenue declined by 16%. More details are awaited from the financial analysts conference call later today.
