Microsoft software update enables 4G LTE on some Windows Phones in India
Microsoft is rolling out a new firmware update that enables 4G LTE on select Lumia Windows Phones in India. The software giant is pushing out the new update after major carriers like Airtel have begun the 4G rollout in the country, with another major 4G player set to launch its services soon.
This new update will let users of the following Lumia smartphones enjoy 4G on their devices.
- Lumia 1520
- Lumia 1320
- Lumia 930
- Lumia 920
- Lumia 925
- Lumia 830
- Lumia 625
Although this update enables 4G LTE support, you will have to be on a carrier that currently has 4G service in your area. You will also need your carrier to support the FDD-LTE band (1800 Mhz) to be able to enjoy 4G services. This is due to hardware limitation, something that should be rectified in future Lumia smartphones as 4G LTE becomes more common in India.
