[Update: Android version available now] Microsoft Send is a IM-style take on Email, available for iOS now

Microsoft is experimenting with new things. After acquiring popular productivity apps recently, Microsoft has now released a new IM-style email app, that tries to make the email experience enjoyable again.

Microsoft Send

Microsoft Send is the latest entry in the long list of apps that have tried to take a new approach to email. Google’s Inbox was the most recent one, preceded by dozens of solutions from other companies. While all of them have had something or the other going for them, not many have become popular enough. Inbox seems to have its own small userbase, though.

Microsoft Send could also become just as popular or more, considering that it doesn’t try to be a “smart” sorting solution and instead helps you to go back and forth between your email conversations when elaborate replies are not required. The attraction of Send could be that while you are continuing to use your existing email account, the short replies are all what you need. Additionally, since it is your email that you are using in an IM environment, everything is stored as an actual, normal email in your Outlook account.

At the moment, Send is only available for iOS, but Microsoft says that the Android version is coming soon.

Update: Microsoft Send is now available for Android too.
