Microsoft and Cyanogen enter strategic partnership
Microsoft and Cyanogen Inc have officially entered into a strategic partnership. In this arrangement, Cyanogen will bundle a bunch of Microsoft apps on phones running Cyanogen OS based on Android. The rumours about such a deal were floating around for a long time now, with Microsoft having tried to chip in with funding during a recent $80 million that including several investors like Twitter Ventures, Qualcomm, Premji Invest.
Microsoft has been investing a lot of resources into improving its apps across operating systems. The company recently announced and released versions of Office for iOS and Android. With this deal with Cyanogen Inc, the company will get to bundle its various apps on phones running Cyanogen operating system. Bing services, OneDrive, Outlook, Skype, OneNote and Office are the apps which have been agreed to be bundled.
