Microsoft announce unified store for applications, games, music and videos
Microsoft has announced that they are working on a new digital store/applications using which consumers can purchase applications, games, music, movies, TV shows. As of now, there are three different applications that serve to these consumers. The universal Windows applications will work across wide device families (PC, tablet, phone, Xbox, IoT devices etc).
The latest build of Windows 10 Technical Preview will come with this unified Store experience. Under the Store Beta application, there will be a new section/page for Movies & TV. Windows Insiders will now be able to browser and search video catalogue, rent/purchase TV shows and movies (select regions only). The personal collection in Xbox Video application will now appear on the new Video Preview application.
Windows Insiders in the following countries will see Movies & TV available to purchase and/or rent with a few caveats: North America: US, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium (only movies – no TV content), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.
