Microsoft adds Smart Motion Preview to Bing, preview video before opening it

There definitely were instances where we opened a video (suggested by a search) and it turned out to be something else (especially after a soccer game where we try to watch highlights and find video game gameplay instead of actual game). Microsoft’s new feature addition to Bing should change that. Called ‘Smart Motion Previews’, this feature gives you something similar to a movie trailer (something that Galaxy S3 and HTC One users should be familiar with on video player apps).

When Bing crawls the internet for videos, it creates short previews with time limit of 30 seconds. When you do a search, if the video from the results has a preview, you can first check the preview before opening the acutal video. This not only helps users reduce precious bandwidth usage but also saves lot of time. The bits that the crawler picks for preview are usually the most relevant parts of the video (for example, check for audio levels in a sports video etc).
