Mi Air Purifier 3 vs Mi Air Purifier 2S – worthy upgrade?
Mi India has just announced the launch of its new Air Purifier in India. Mi Air Purifier 2C was launched a few weeks ago, but it was a basic Air Purifier, which works like the 2S but does not have the smart home or connectivity features. The new Mi Air Purifier 3 is the true successor for the 2S as it has all the features of the Air Purifier 2S and has improved on certain features.

Mi Air Purifier 3 vs 2S
Mi Air Purifier 3 offers a bunch of improvements over the earlier version. It has an OLED display like the 2S, but on the 3 it is a touch screen. The screen can be used to change the modes and control other features of the Mi Air Purifier 3.
The Mi Air Purifier 3 now comes with a new Triple Layer HEPA Filter. The new filter is priced at Rs 2199 and it is also compatible with 2, 2S and 2C models. The new filter includes a primary filter, HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. The filter can effectively filter out PM2.5 particles and also get rid of any chemicals in the air like formaldehyde, toxic substances, and bad odor.
Mi Air Purifier 3 has a CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 380m³/h which makes it capable of delivering 6333 liters of purified air every minute with a coverage area of up to 484ft2. Mi Air Purifier 2S has a CADR of 310m³/hr. So the new model is more powerful and efficient than the 2S.
The design remains the same for the most part of it, apart from a few subtle changes. Both have a high precision laser sensor to detect the particles in the air. Both can be connected to Smart Home apps like Google or Alexa and also they talk with Xiaomi’s Mi Home App.
Should you upgrade?
Well, the new Mi Air Purifier 3 offers a few upgrades and if you are looking to buy a Mi Air Purifier, I would suggest going for the Mi Air Purifier 3 instead of the older model. If you already have a Mi Air Purifier 2 or 2S, there is no pressing need to upgrade. But these Air Purifiers work effectively for a 500 sq.ft area. If you need a second machine to cover more area, go for the Mi Air Purifier 3. The older model may soon be phased out, but it is available as of now on Mi.com for Rs 8999.
