Mediatek announces three new affordable chipsets with 4G LTE support
Mediatek today announced the launch of three new highly affordable chipsets with 4G LTE support. These new chipsets continue the trend of bringing important new features to lower price points.
4G LTE support is going to be the next smartphone feature to permeate to lower and lower price points. Mediatek wants to make sure it dominates this category again with its ultra low cost chipsets. The three new chipsets that Mediatek has announced are the MT-6738, the MT-6750 and the MT-6750T.
The Mediatek MT-6738 is the cheapest of the bunch, bringing four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz. It supports up to 4 GB RAM, eMMC5.1, 13 MP cameras and HD resolution displays. You get Cat.6 LTE support for speeds up to 300 Mbps. Both TD LTE as well as FD LTE technologies are supported.
Next up in line is Mediatek MT-6750 with eight Cortex A53 cores. You get the same 4 GB RAM, eMMC 5.1 support as the MT-6738. You get support for up to 16 MP cameras, but display resolution remains the same at HD 720p, same as above. Cat.6 LTE support with TD and FD technologies is present as well.
The Mediatek MT-6750T takes things a little higher with support for Full HD displays. Everything else remains the same viz-a-viz the MT-6750.
