MediaTek announce pump express plus to compete with Qualcomm Quick Charge
We all know how MediaTek is eating into Qualcomm smartphone and tablet chip market share. One distinct advantage that Qualcomm has right now is the Quick Charge 2.0 that can charge a smartphone battery in a short span of time. This is going to change.
Koobee Halo 3 is the first smartphone that comes with built in MTK Pump Express Plus, a quick charging solution from MediaTek. MTK PEP has a charging output voltage of 9V and optional 7V is provided. MT6595, MT6732 are the two MediaTek chipsets that come with this feature built in.
The charger bundled with Koobee Halo 3 offers output charging voltage of 5V 1.67A(8035W), 7V 1.67A(11.69W), and 9V 1067A(15.3W) and works at input of 100-240V. Thanks to this, it only takes 30 minutes to charge a 2060mAh battery from 0% to 75%. A tiny 5 minute charge can give you call time of up to 2 hours.
