MT2523 is a new SoC from MediaTek and is designed for fitness devices like smart watches and fitness trackers. This is the first system-in-package (SiP) with build in GPS, Bluetooth Low Energy and MIPI supported high resolution mobile screen. MT2523 will be available for device makers from first half of 2016. At heart, the chip has an ARM Cortex M4 processor.
“The MT2523, with its combination low power and rich features, marks a significant step forward for the smart watch and wristband industries, said JC Hsu, MediaTek’s corporate vice president and general manager of IoT business unit. “Power combined with efficiency has always been the hallmark of MediaTek technology solutions and we are leading the charge in bringing this know-how to IoT products.”
Thanks to the super low power draw of Cortex M4, the MT2523 allows device makers to create wearables with more than a week battery life. The MT2523 contains
- Micro controller unit
- Dual mode Bluetooth
- GPS
- Power management unit
- MIPI-DSI and serial interface support
- True color, per pixel alpha channel and anti-aliasing fonts support
- 1-bit index color support
